Pimp My Fencing Bag

Just in case anyone needs some inspiration to build themselves a cool fencing bag....

I don't know the owner, I saw this posted on fencing.net a while ago.

I thought of it because Cavan and I spent the afternoon working on a cart for the club. The cart will have 14 tubes for foils and two shelves to hold tubs. Plus the cart will have a scoring machine mounted on it so we can set up a strip very quickly. Cool huh?

This is my new fencing blog.

So, this is my new fencing blog. Here I will post ideas, thoughts, pictures, videos, and sometimes just cool stuff that I think JFC members might be interested in. Anything that is fencing related, but not necessarily appropriate for the Jackson Fencing Club main page (that should be dedicated to club related news.)

So here is my first post:

I found this on YouTube. It is the gold medal bout between Gierek Meinhardt from Notre Dame and Nick Chinman from Penn State at the NCAA National Championships last March. This is some insanely good fencing. Meinhardt is only 18 years old, he was the youngest male member (in any sport) of the US Olympic team in Beijing last year. Notice how aggressive he is. He is not hanging back waiting to be attacked.

Tim got to fence against both of these guys 3 or 4 times last year. I got to watch him fence Meinhardt at Notre Dame, and it was the only time all day that I wasn't a nervous wreck. Tim did really well he scored the first two points (it was a 5 point bout) and they were up and down the strip about 20 times in a five point bout. Very exciting stuff.
